Lake District, Blencathra & Bowscale Fell from Mungrisdale.

Blencathra & Bowscale Fell from Mungrisdale on a damp Sunday, it was to rain all day.

5 1/2 hrs

Sharp Edge
Parking at Mungrisdale, honesty box policy.
On the path up to Scales Tarn, a gentle ascent of about 3 miles or so.
Almost at Scales Tarn with Scales Beck on the left.
At Scales Tarn with Sharp Edge high up in the mist.
And this if how far I got before turning back, twas very wet and slippery underfoot and then it started to snow at which point I decided to head back down and take the safer path up the other side of the Tarn.
Heading back down to Scales Tarn. The alternative path can clearly be seen heading up to the right.
Up on Blencathra this is the exit at the top of Sharp Edge, I am to head up and over Foule Crag and down towards Mungrisdale Common.
Arriving at Bowscale Fell after a boggy trudge over Mungrisdale Common.
The descent into Bannerdale on a path that has turned into a stream with all the rain.
Bannerdale Crags.
Arriving back in Mungrisdale after a very wet but still, interesting day.
:)
