Lake District, Helm Crag to Calf Crag from Grasmere.

A wet and windy weekend in the lakes resulted in an aborted camp at Baysbrown Farm due to a storm during the night (snapped tent pole) so only managed to fit this one walk in and it rained the whole day.

I was going to head for Easedale Tarn but due to the worsening weather decided to head down the valley back to Grasmere.

5hrs.

An almost deserted campsite.
Free parking in the layby just outside Grasmere.
Helm crag is up there.
The path up to Helm Crag taking note of the sign :)
After a short but steep climb the Howitzer on Helm Crag appears.
Looking down to the A591 through a break in the cloud.
Looking back at the Howitzer which I didn't climb, too wet and windy was my excuse.
Start of the ridge walk to Calf Crag.
Calf Crag in the distance.
At Calf Crag.
At the top of Easedale looking towards Greenup Edge, I headed down Easedale at this point.
A swollen Easedale Gill.
New packhorse bridge over Easedale Beck.
Easedale Beck breaks it's banks, path is on the right.
Time for a quick visit to Grasmere to see the Wordsworth graves and Daffodil Garden before heading off home.
