A trip into the northern Carneddau from Abergwyngregyn in search of solitude and wild horses, I found both.
8 hrs.
Aber Falls.
Plenty of parking above Abergwyngregyn and cheap.
An easy start takes you through ancient woodland towards Aber Falls.
At the falls I head over the bridge to the right and make my way over to the path on the lower slopes of Moel Wnion.
It was here I found a casualty of last years harsh winter.
Looking back to Anglesey and Puffin Island.
Carnedd Uchaf/Gwenllian from near Drosgl.
Anglesey and Puffin Island from Bera Mawr.
Looking back at Bera Mawr.
Carnedd Llewellyn and Yr Elen from Bera Bach.
And again.
Looking back to Bera Bach.
Foal Grach ahead center just below Carnedd Llewellyn.
Wild ponies at the mountain shelter on Foel Grach.
At Foel Fras.
Foel Fras from Llwytmor and still at 849m.
At the top of Aber Falls looking down the valley towards Abergwyngregyn.
Top of the scree slope, care needed here.
Looking back up the scree slope and Aber Falls.
It was then just a mile or so through ancient woodland back to the parking area.
