Peak District, Barrow Stones From Kings Tree then to Fairholmes.

Got the Shuttle Bus up to King's Tree at the top of the Derwent Valley with the intention of following the River Derwent up the valley to it's source near the Barrow Stones on Bleaklow, returning to Fairholmes via Westend Plantation.

6 1/2 hours.

Peak District, Castleton, Mam Tor Ridge Walk.

A trip out to Castleton to do the ridge between Mam Tor and Lose Hill, down to Hope back to Castleton and up Cavedale behind Pevril Castle back to the National trust car park beneath Mam Tor.

Howgills, revisited.

Back to the Howgills a month after our last visit which turned out to be very wet and not very good for visibility. This trip was to prove somewhat different. Almost the same route with a slight variation.

A circular from Crowdon on the old Pennine Way to Black Hill and beyond returning on the official Pennine Way with a visit to Chew Reservoir and an un-named Trig Point.

Off to Ronksley Cabin today via Alport Castles and Bleaklow from Fairholmes Visitor Center.

Across the road from Fairholmes is a path that tales you up through the woods to Lockerbrook Farm.

From the free parking area at Walna Scar Road above Coniston I headed off up Walna Scar Road with the weather looking a lot brighter than yesterday with the objectives being Dow Crag and the Old Man.

Howgills, Winder, Arant Haw, The Calf, Cautley Spout.

Starting from Sedbergh we headed up towards Winder on a damp morning with the weather forecast promising a brighter afternoon but it proved to be wrong, it got much worse.

North Wales, Foel Grach from Llyn Eigiau

Second day in the Carneddau and a trip to Foel Grach via Llyn Eigiau reached via a single track road from Tal-y-Bont south of Conway. The day was very overcast and wet in the afternoon and the settings on my camera were messed up so apologies fro the poor quality of the photos.

Parked up at Abergwyngregyn (free) and walked up through the village to the start of the walk at Aber Falls on a very overcast morning.

Aber Falls, there is a path to the left over the scree and up the to the left of the falls.

From Fairholmes at Derwent up to Alport Castles and on to the eastern side of Bleaklow returning via Grinah Grain, Howden and Derwent resevoirs.

North Wales, Carnedd Llewelyn from Ogwen Valley

Carnedd Llewelyn from Ogwen Valley via Pen yr Ole Wen and Carnedd Daffyd.

7 Hours.

Ogwen valley was extremely busy on this Saturday due to the Oggie 8 Challenge, details....

Yorkshire Dales, Skipton to Gargrave and back.

Skipton to Gargrave and back on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

On a visit to Skipton and having looked around the town and the Craven Museum I decided to take a stroll over to Gargrave along the canal and back to Skipton the same way. The above photo is the only one I took on the whole walk but it was a nice stoll all the same.

Yorkshire Dales, Pen-y-Ghent, Plover Hill, Foxup

6 1/2 hours.
From Horton in Ribblesdale a stroll up Pen-y-Ghent then over to Plover Hill away from the crowds and down to Foxup in Littondale before heading back to Horton in Ribblesdale skirting Fountains Fell and the shoulder of Pen-y-Ghent.
Completed without a drop of rain.

Yorkshire Dales, Ilkley Circular

6 hours.
A trip over Ilkey Moor and over to Round Hill on the edge of the Dales, back though Ilkley and up to Ilkley Crags finishing with some light refreshment in the Cow and Calf pub.

After a while we came across some aircraft wreckage of a Halifax Bomber that came down on January 31st, 1944, off course on a night training exercise.

Scotland, Stob Ban

A lovely walk up to the summit of Stob Ban with the weather holding for most of the day.
The short journey from the camp site to the car park was interesting.
