Aircraft crash site spotting today on a cool and overcast Easter Sunday which was surprisingly quiet.
Parked at the top of the Snake Pass I headed for Mill Hill along the Pennine Way to search for the Liberator crash site just to the west of Mill Hill.
I used this site for reference.
7 1/2 hrs.
The long path to Mill Hill with Kinder Scout in the distance.
Mill Hill with Kinder ahead.
From the photo above is a paved path to the right, head down there about 400m and boot marks in the peat veer to the rightfor approx 100m leading you to the site.
More details here.
On my way up to Kinder heading for the next site which is at the top of the path just to the left.
I presume this is one of the Sabres that collided.
More details here.
I then headed for Fairbrook Naze along The Edge.
And then across the plateau to Kinder Downfall. The work that has been on going up here is looking good.
At the Downfall looking down to Kinder Reservoir.
Off to Bleaklow now to the Superfortress site.
More details here.
Cairn at Higher Shelf Stones. The site is about 100m to the NE of this.
I decided to pay a quick visit to Bleaklow head before heading back to the car and home with sore feet.
