North Wales, Snowdon.

A mixture of photo's from two trips up Snowdon. The first ascent from Pen-y-Pass via the Pyg track returning down the Miners Track. The second two days later and much more rewarding was via the Watkin Path, only seeing 4 other people and a group of wild campers on the whole route until the inevitable crowds at the summit.

I was based at Llyn Gwynant Campsite at the foot of Snowdon itself with the added luxury of allowing camp fires of an evening.
 Me Tent.
Snowdon from the viewpoint just up the (A498) Road from the campsite.

The day started damp and continued damp all day all the way up and down, above is the view down towards Llanberis from the Pyg Track just up from the Pen-y-Pass car park.
Llyn Lydaw fron The Pyg Track. From here to the summit there wasn't much opportunity for photo's as the weather was terrible, even my boots were wet through by the time I had fought my way past the crowds to the summit.
 The summit Station err, wall.
The next morning the weather improved giving me chance to dry out some gear before heading off into llanberis for the day, to the right is the fire pit.

A few pics of Llanberis Mountain Railway Station...
And the Slate Museum (free) and well worth a visit, I thought those who worked in the steel and coal mining industries had it tough until I visited here.
Llanberis...

The next day saw me heading up Snowdon again this time via the Watkin Path from the campsite Which took about 9 hours and was much more enjoyable and quieter.

 The start...
Looking up the watkin Path from the road (A498)
Looking back down from the waterfalls and just before Gladstone Rock.
Old mine buildings.
From here it was into the clouds up to the summit and the crowds again.

This rock marks the end of the Watkin path and is close to the summit, I only saw this on the way back down as the path is easily lost on the last few hundred meters of ascent.

The Rhyd-Ddu path, I headed left down the South Ridge as the clouds began to clear.
Looking back towards an almost clear Snowdon. The Watkin path can be seen going from right to left.

Near the Bottom of the ridge and the weather had completely cleared, just my luck really.
This last pic is from a little detour onto Yr Aran and a disused mine before dropping back onto the Waktin Path and heading off back to the campsite ending a cracking days walk.

The next morning it was breakfast in Pete's Eats in Llanberis and then off home, jubbly.
