Lake district....... Pelter Bridge, Rydal Mount, Grasmere, Loughrigg Fell.

The weather was a little inclement for a high level route in other words it was raining...a lot. So a low level route it had to be, parked up at Pelter Bridge car park (P&D) at Rydal just outside Ambleside and headed up towards Rydal mount.

Rydal mount where that William Wordsworth geezer once lived. It was closed today.
From here a public bridleway takes you into Grasmere past Dove Cottage where he also kipped and wrote a few poems.

In Grasmere I took a look around the grounds of St Oswald's Church.

And final resting place of William Wordsworth.

After sampling some local fair in Grasmere, a piece of flapjack for £1.50 yes £1.50 that's 30 bob in real money but I suppose the local economy needs the support eh? I headed off round the back of Grasmere and up Loughrigg Fell.

Grasmere from Loughrigg.

Rydal water from Loughrig.

From here it was back to the car then a quick amble round Ambleside and then off home just in time to hit the rush hour on the Manchester ring motorway and then home, lovely jubbly.
