Carnedd Llewelyn from Ogwen Valley via Pen yr Ole Wen and Carnedd Daffyd.
7 Hours.
Carnedd Llewelyn through the haze.
Ogwen valley was extremely busy on this Saturday due to the Oggie 8 Challenge, details....
http://www.ogwen-rescue.org.uk/oggie_8/ all for a good cause though.
Not many car parking spaces to be had today.
Gaining height on Pen yr Ole Wen.
Looking across to Llyn Idwal.
Nearing the summit of Pen yr Ole Wen. It was very busy with Oggie 8 ers for a while descending and heading there way over to the Glyders but it soon quietened down.
Bethesda down there through the haze.
Pen yr Ole Wen summit and a crowd which I avoided.
The path leading to Carnedd Daffyd.
Looking in the opposite direction, Y Garn and Glyder Fawr.
Carnedd Daffyd summit.
Over on the left is Carnedd Llewelyn which I am heading for today.
Up there...
Looking down to the Ffynnon Llugwy Reservoir.
Carnedd Llewelyn summit.
Looking over to the Northern Carneddau.
Retracing my steps towards Carnedd Daffyd.
Looking down the valley towards Bethesda.
Towards Carnedd Daffyd.
Down the valley to Bethesda again.
Pen yr Ole Wen and the East Ridge which will be my descent route today, Tryfan can be seen in the background.
Looking back to Carnedd Daffyd from Pen yr Ole Wen.
And again.
Cwm Lloer from the East Ridge of Pen yr Ole Wen.
A scrambly section on the East Ridge of Pen Yr Ole Wen, not as as bad as it looks, honest.
On the descent down to Llyn Ogwen.
At Llyn Ogwen I took the rather boggy in places path to the right therefore avoiding a bit of road walking.
And finally back at Idwal Cottage and the car.
From there it was fish and chips for tea at Bethesda and then to my accommodation for the night at Bangor University.
Jubbly.
