Peak District, Ronksley Cabin from Fairholmes Visitor Center

Off to Ronksley Cabin today via Alport Castles and Bleaklow from Fairholmes Visitor Center.

71/2 hrs.
Across the road from Fairholmes is a path that tales you up through the woods to Lockerbrook Farm.
Out of the woods looking back down the valley.
Access land ahoy.
Kinder Scout across the valley.
Approaching Alport Castles along a paved stretch of path.
The Tower, twas very busy here today, 50+ people, Must be the nice weather, fortunately they weren't all if any, going my way.
Alport Dale, it became much quieter from here on.
Trig point with Bleaklow in the background.
To reach Bleaklow plenty of this had to be negotiated. The wooden stake in the picture shows the way, just need to get to it mmmh.
Almost at Bleaklow looking back along the path.
At Bleaklow Stones with Grinah Stones in the background.
Nice view back.
At Grinah Stones looking back to Bleaklow Stones.
A short stroll across to Barrow Stones.
Looking towards Round hill, Back Tor is on the horizon way in the distance.
At Round Hill.
Looking back up to Round Hill to the right and Barrow Stones to the left.
Further along the path a crossroads appear with a deep trench heading off to the left obviously cut for vehicular access, Ronksley cabin is down there about 1/2 a mile into Lower Small Clough..
Here we are....
There are actually two of them, one an open shelter and the other with more protection against the elements.
Time to head back up the track and down the valley towards the dams. The track leads down the valley through the plantation and is very quiet.
Through the plantation, very scenic.
Down at the Howden Reservoir with the light beginning to fade.
Howden Dam wall.
Derwent Dam wall.
Looking back up the valley.
A short walk through the trees back to Fairholmes to finish.
