7 1/2 hrs.
Campsite at Crowdon not far from the free car park.
First style of the day heading up towards Westend Moss.
Campsite below with Torside Clough leading up to Bleaklow over yonder.
Heaps.
View up Crowden Little Brook, our path veres off to the right a little further along.
And again.
Looking back from Westend Moss.
Onwards now into the peat.
Follow the posts, Holme Moss Transmitter in the background.
Closer view.
Cairn just before Soldier's Lump on Black hill which can just be seen in the background.
Along here...
And down there to Wessenden Head Moor.
Rather than plough on I decided to head off to the right and meet up with the official Pennine way path below Black Hill.
There is a butty van over there.
Holmfirth over yonder.
The official Pennine Way with some "wayers" having just left Black Hill.
Time to head back towards Black Hill and on towards Laddow Rocks.
Peaty pool past Soldier's Lump on the pavement.
Looking back to Dun Hill.
And back up the valley, couldn't take forward looking photos at this stage as the sun was directly in front of me.
Managed a few though, this one of Bareholme Moss.
And looking down the valley towards Crowdon from Laddow rocks.
Laddow Rocks.
I then headed off on the path towards Chew reservoir which is isn't far and a pleasant diversion
Back up the path and before rejoining the main path I headed off to the right over pathless moor to an unnamed trig point above Chew Reservoir.
Back to the main path now over pathless moor.
Nice fence...
Back on the main path leaving Laddow Rocks.
Looking back up the valley.
And over to the "heaps".
The mist starts to roll over Bleaklow. The journey back to Sheffield over the Woodhead in thick fog was interesting.
On last look back up the valley.
Back at Crowdon campsite near the car park with the light fading after a good days stroll.
Jubbly.
