Back to the Howgills a month after our last visit which turned out to be very wet and not very good for visibility. This trip was to prove somewhat different. Almost the same route with a slight variation.
7 hrs.
Starting point at Sedbergh.
Climbing out of Sedbergh.
Looking across to the Lake District.
Winder with Arant Haw in the distance.
On the way up to Arant Haw.
Quite a few people out today.
At Arant Haw looking over to Calders and The Calf.
Looking over to the Lakes.
Onwards.
Almost there.
The calf with great views.
Into Bowderdale heading for Bowderdale Head.
Heading up to Cautley Spout from Bowderdale Head we came across this walker having a break accompanied his dog and two wild ponies, quite a bizarre sight out here.
Cautley Spout in the snow with Cautley Crag behind, our route will be over the midle bumpy bit.
Cautley Crag.
Looking South into the Dales.
Bowderdale.
Top of Cautley Crag.
And again looking back to Cautley Spout and Bowderdale.
Heading up Middle Tongue to Calders.
Big sun.
Retracing our steps now, looking back to Calders.
Someone built a snowman while we were away, Morecambe Bay in the distance.
Nice view.
Descending now with the light fading.
Returning to Sedbergh with darkness rapidly approaching.
A quick pint in one of the local hostelries and then away we went, jubbly.
