Shuttle bus cancelled due to Snow and ice on the road so I opted to walk up by the dams and take the first path off to the left that came available and to then take it from there.
Ended up at Alport Castles and Bleaklow returning by the dams.
7 1/2 Hours
Alport Castles
The first path/track off to the left after leaving Fairholmes going up Ouzelden Clough.
The path soon ends and I follow a solitary pair of footsteps for a while then make my own way up the hill.
Up on open ground looking back towards Derwent Reservoir.
Approaching Alport Castles.
Hide, jam packed with snow.
The Tower and small pool.
Casualty of the coldest winter since 1962, one of many sadly.
Looking back to Alport Castles on the way to the trig on Alport/Westend moor.
Trig point with Bleaklow ahead.
Bleaklow Stones after the trudge across the moor.
Still plenty of sow in deep drifts up here.
Grinah Stones ahead.
Now at Barrow Stones.
Shelter on Round Hill.
Under that snow drift is a vehicle track.
Descending down towards the Westend Plantation.
Westend Plantation.
Howden Reservoir dam wall, Abbey Bank beyond.
Derwent Reservoir Dam wall.
1 mile of further road plodding before reaching the car just beyond Fairholmes.
