A trip up to Bleaklow via Wildboar Clough from Torside.
7hrs.
Car park at Torside, pay and display normally but today the machine was out of order, shame.
From the car park I headed up the hill and turned left on the Trans Pennine Trail for a short distance until the sign for WildBoar Clough is Reached.
And then up through the scary woods.
The start of Wildboar Clough.
Looking down to Torside reservoir.
The rocks here are very green and wet and very slippery probably due to the clough not getting much sun. All the way up I was in the shade while everywhere else seemed to bathe in glorious sunshine.
Had to go round this bit.
The difficult/dangerous bits can be easily avoided by climbing out of the clough and gaining bit of height.
Another tricky bit, problem being it's a bit like climbing ice covered rock it's that slippery.
Last hurdle, I actually went to the left of this.
Almost at the top.
Up on Bleaklow.
The path meets up with the Pennine Way heading towards Bleaklow head.
Quite a bit of work being done on the peat.
Bleaklow Head 633m.
Always a crowd.
Onto Higher Shelf Stones now to visit the B29 crash site.
Higher Shelf Stones 621m.
Heading back to Bleaklow head now, Hern Stones.
Back at Bleaklow Head.
Time for a bit of a wander, I headed NE for a while until I came to this fence which I followed round to the West to meet up with the Pennine Way.
Coming off Bleaklow now heading towards Torside Clough, looking back to Bleaklow.
Top of Torside Clough.
Grouse butt, delux model.
There is a path of to the left here going to Torside Castle and beyond, I followed it for about half a mile but returned to the main path as it was far too boggy and erroded to be enjoyable.
On Clough Edge now heading down.
Woodhead Reservoir in the fading light.
Just been up there!
Light fades swiftly, this photo was taken on the path near the car park about 15 minutes after the one above.
Good day though.
