Had a go at Jack's Rake today in blistering heat, after setting up camp it was off to the NT Trust car park at Great Langdale. Not an Ideal time to be setting off at 1pm nearing the hottest part of the day but that couldn't be helped.
5hrs.
Pavey Ark with Jack's Rake going diagonally up the face from right to left.
Start of the path at Stickle Ghyll.
Half way up and it's hot.
At Stickle Tarn and people were walking straight into the water it was that hot.
Stickle Tarn from the start of Jack's Rake.
Start of Jack's Rake and I am to head for the tree.
Made it with the hardest bit over but it didn't seem so.
I passed this group who were using a rope at the difficult bits, very sensible given the exposure.
Gulp.
Nearly there.
This wall was built to stop sheep from wandering over the edge of Pavey Arc.
Top of Jack's Rake and on Pavey Arc. The scramble is quite tricky at times but the exposure is the main problem and a good head for heights is needed.
At High Raise now looking towards Bowfell.
And the Langdale Pikes.
Approaching Sergeant Man.
Stickle Tarn and the eastern edge of Pavey Arc from Sergeanr Man.
Easedale Tarn above erm, Easedale and Grassmere.
Stickle Tarn with Pavey Arc to the right and Harrison Stickle to the left.
A Final look at Jack's Rake before descending Stickle Ghyll and enjoying a well earned shandy in The Walkers Bar at The New Dungeon Ghyll.
Back at Baysbrown Farm Campsite in Great Langdale with the sun setting behind Lingmoor Fell.
