North Wales, Snowdon via Rhyd Ddu path and a visit to Yr Aran.

A fantastic but hot day for a trip up Snowdon via the Rhyd Dddu path, one of the quieter routes up the mountain. Returning down the South Ridge for a quick visit to the much less visited summit of Yr Aran.

71/2 hrs

South Ridge.
Plenty of car parking at Rhyd Ddu Station.
The first of a few ruined buildings on the path.
Another.
Feeling the heat already and it's only 10.30am.
Start of the Nantle Ridge.
Moel Hebog on the left.
Another ruin.
View down to Llyn Cwellyn.
View of the summit from the South Ridge.
Moel Ellio in the distance.
Marker stone at the top of the Watkin Path.
Summit station.
The majority of people ascend via this side, Llanberis, miners and Pyg tracks.
Not much chance of getting near the summit cairn today.
A bit of sunbathing with the crowds required.
Heading down The South Ridge now towards Yr Aran.
It's just up there.
Summit of Yr Aran with Snowdon on the left.
Moel Siabod and the Moelwyns from Yr Aran.
West Snowdon Quarry ruins.
Looking back to Yr Aran
Last ruin of the day.
Back at Rhyd Ddu and some light refreshment in The Cwellyn Arms after a hot day on the hills.
