Peak District, Howdon Moors, Airspeed Consul Crash Site.

6 Hours.
Bog trotting today.
Parked at the top Derwent Dam as the road is open during the week.
Looking down the dam from the parking spot.
The road up to Slippery Stones.

Slippery Stones err bridge. After crossing the bridge take the path to the left which follows the River Derwent to the top of the valley.
Left here.
And continue.
To the shelter here where the track ends and a footpath continues which isn't in great condition but then again it never was. About a mile along the path as I swung a right up towards Howden Edge the snow and hail started to come down and the path disappeared, lovely.
Up on the moor heading for..
 The Horse Stone and then...
Looking north from The Rocking Stones.

A little further on on Crow Stones Edge Is the crash site of the Icelandic Airline Airspeed Consul Which came down in 1951. More here.
Don't know why but people keep taking bits of this wreckage away.....?
From the crash site looking back to Outer Edge over new grouse buts.
Looking over to Margery Hill from the path that takes you down to Slippery Stones.
The same path from the bottom.
Almost back at the car.
During the afternoon the snow and hail cleared making for a pleasant afternoon's stroll/bog trot.
Quick stop at Fairholmes Visitor Center for a hot drink and then off home, jubbly.
