North Wales, Y Garn North East Ridge from Ogwen Cottage.

A trip up Y Garn today from Ogwen Cottage in lots of snow which made for hard going at times but enjoyable nevertheless. the windchill at height however was painful.

6 hrs.

A half frozen Llyn Ogwen near the parking area which was busy.
The parking area which was full, roadside for me today.
On the path up to Llyn Idwal.
At Llyn Idwal looking straight ahead at the Devil's Kitchen.
And back towards Pen yr Ole Wen.
Heading for the North East Ridge of Y Garn looking back to Llyn Idwal.
And down the Ogwen valley towards Bethesda.
And back towards Llyn Ogwen.
The only glimpse of Y Garn's summit I had all day as the mist cleared for a moment.
Llyn Clyd, grub stop before returning to the ridge path. There are two climbers in this photo preparing to ascend Banana Gully on the right, hope they made it.
Back on the ridge and another view down Ogwen valley towards Bethesda.
Crampons on from here as it got very icy.
More people coming up.
Llyn Idwal way below.
Nearly there. The summit is over to the left in the mist.
Summit shelter 947m.
A cold me at the summit shelter.
From the summit I headed down towards Llyn y Cwm at the top of The Devil's Kitchen which will be my route down.
You know you're on the right track when you come to this fence, getting your direction right is difficult in snow and mist.
You can just see a group of walkers coming up.
At the top of The Devil's Kitchen.
Some pics of the journey down.
Safely down looking across Llyn Idwal.
Almost back at the parking area after a very tiring and cold but enjoyable day.
:)
