Yorkshire Dales, Ingleborough from Clapham.

Ingleborough from Clapham.

5 1/2 hrs.
From the parking area at Clapham, either road side or car park I followed the Ingleborough Cave signs and then turned left at the paid nature trail entrance and took this track that borders the trail and is just as interesting to emerge at Ingleborough Cave.

Through the farm.
And down to the cave.
From the cave I continued up the track to Trow Gill.
Looking back, very quiet and eery today.
On my my now up to Ingleborough.
Looking back at the mist hanging in the valley.
First view and probably the last view of Ingleborough, Little Ingleborough in the foreground.
A quick detour to visit Gaping Gill. It's a long way down there, care needed.
If you decide to cross the beck care is needed also as the rock is very slippery, I fell and got soaked.
Onwards now and the weather is closing in.
Little Ingleborough and lunch.
Ingleborough Summit and shelter in the clag.
The way orf can be tricky when the visibility is poor so the compass came out to make sure I was descending from the correct side of the summit plateau and on the correct path which then splits into two, mine is the right hand fork.
The path will take me down to the scar a couple of miles east of Gaping Gill.
So far so good.
Would make a nice bothy that would.
At the scar.
The path then leads to this track which skirts the other side of the nature trail making it's way back into Clapham.
through a couple of tunnels first.
To emerge at the Church of St James, Clapham.
A quick shandy at The New Inn in Clapham before heading off home.
