East Coast, Spurn Point

A bit of a short wander around Spurn point today after calling at Hull for a bite to eat and then calling at Humber Bridge on the way home.

Cargo Ferry passing close to Spurn Point in the very busy shipping lane.
And again safely past.

Staff quarters.
Modern tower, you can just see the old lighthouse in the background.
The old lighthouse.
Lifeboat and pilot station.
Lots of traffic.
The old and the new. the structure in the foreground was the low light, one of two towers lit to guide shipping past Spurn Point and into the Humber. The other structure is gone and both were replaced by the lighthouse in the background which contained both low and high lights, when these were aligned ships were guided in and out of the Humber, pretty neat eh?
It's a single track road taking you along the spit, 3 quid to get on.
North sea and long abandoned sea defenses.
Not many people here today, cold and windy.
The old low light with added water tower now disused.
There is a free car park at Kilnsea which I may use if I visit again and walk the 7.4 miles to Spurn head and back, entry on foot is free.
